Rangers fans say the same thing after Van Bronckhorst agrees Liverpool deal

Rangers fans were all but unanimous in their heartwarming response after an exciting update on former manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s next chapter.

Van Bronckhorst enjoyed a memorable spell at Ibrox, guiding Rangers to the 2022 Europa League final, where they narrowly missed out on lifting the trophy after a penalty shootout defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Despite also winning the Scottish Cup during his time in charge, Van Bronckhorst was sacked by Rangers in November 2022 following a dip in domestic form.

Since then, the Dutchman had a short stint managing Turkish giants Besiktas, before taking on a role as a UEFA match analyst.

Back in Glasgow, The Gers have been searching for consistency in the dugout, with Rangers recently appointing Russell Martin as the new manager, tasked with leading the club into the 2025/26 season.

Meanwhile, Van Bronckhorst has agreed to return to top-flight management, a move that has prompted a wave of warm messages from Rangers supporters, many of whom still hold fond memories of his time at Ibrox.

It was confirmed on 2 July that Van Bronckhorst has joined Arne Slot’s coaching staff at Liverpool ahead of the new season.

The Dutchman will step into the assistant role left vacant following John Heitinga’s departure to Ajax last month.

Heitinga wasted no time strengthening his new squad using his former side, as Vitezslav Jaros joined Ajax on loan as one of his first signings.

Meanwhile, Van Bronckhorst will not be considered Slot’s outright No. 2, with that position remaining occupied by long-time assistant Sipke Hulshoff. Nevertheless, he is expected to play an influential role behind the scenes at Anfield.

It has also been confirmed that Xavi Valero, who previously worked under Rafa Benitez at Liverpool during the 2007 season, will rejoin the club as part of the new-look coaching team.
