Rangers fans ‘see right through Alfredo Morelos’ after latest twist – pundit

Frank McAvennie has suggested Michael Beale doesn’t want to give Alfredo Morelos a new Rangers contract.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said the fact that Beale spoke about wanting to give Ryan Jack a new contract, but not mentioning Morelos was “strange”.

Morelos, 26, as well as Jack, 30, have just over six months left on their contracts at Ibrox and are yet to agree an extension.

As quoted by the Daily Record (19 December), new boss Michael Beale insisted he is keen to keep hold of Jack as he believes he is one of the best players at the club.

Both Jack and Morelos were on the bench for the Gers’ 1-0 win over Ross County on Friday (23 December).

McAvennie insisted Morelos’ time at Ibrox is up.

I think that ship has sailed,” he told Football Insider.

You can’t just start playing when you have got six months left on your contract. I think the fans will see through that.

Beale is a manager now, I do not know if he has had many of these situations before, I would not have thought so. He was only at QPR a few days. It will be interesting to see how he handles it.

Rangers

He might do it right. But coming out and saying he wants to give Jack a contract, and not mentioning Morelos, it is strange.

Watch this space because he is a new manager so you do not know what he is going to do.
