Rangers fans will love Danny Rohl’s unveiling, he’s ‘anti-Russell Martin’

Rangers unveiled their new manager Danny Rohl at Ibrox, and first impressions of the German have gone down well.

Rohl was named Rangers boss despite previously ruling himself out of the job, after the Gers received other rejections from Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat.

It concludes a managerial search which lasted over two weeks after Russell Martin was sacked by Rangers following their 1-1 draw at Falkirk.

Under-19 manager Steven Smith took charge of the clubs first match after Martin, but it did not change the clubs fortunes as Dundee United held Rangers to a 2-2 draw.

Danny Rohl impresses Tom English

Rohl was unveiled to the press alongside Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh and sporting director Kevin Thelwell at Ibrox.

BBC Sports’ Tom English, on X [21 October] was impressed by Rohl’s first press conference at the club, but insisted that results will speak louder than his words.

English posted: “Talk is cheap, but Danny Rohl seems focused on the right things.

No ‘jam tomorrow stuff’, no chat about building something in the future or cliches like no gain without pain.

“Intensity, speed, pressing and hunting are some of his bywords. The anti-Russell Martin on that evidence.”

Rohl will be in the dugout against Brann

Rohl will go straight into the dugout for Rangers’ Europa League tie at Brann, with the Gers having already lost their opening two matches in the competition.

The German would have had little time on the training pitch with his squad, and after Brann there is only three days before Rangers host Kilmarnock.
