Two 5-1 wins, neither make top spot in Rangers five best ever wins v Celtic

2. Rangers 3-2 Celtic, 1973 Scottish Cup final

Celtic had just lifted their eight of nine consecutive titles and the Gers hadn’t lifted any silverware domestically in seven years as they lined up at Hampden for the 1973 Scottish Cup final.

With 122,714 – officially, but estimates put it closer to 134,000 – in attendance, Tam Forsyth scored from six inches with a goal that is still widely referred to today whenever someone scores in Scotland from close range.

The Gers would go on to win the title a couple of years later as they brought Celtic’s dominance of Scottish football to an end before going on to complete the treble twice in three years.
