If you listen to Joey Barton, he was simply too good for Scottish football and the poor quality was beneath him.
If you go back and actually watch Barton’s performances in Scottish football, you’ll see a man who looks like he’d won a competition to get a place in the Gers squad.
Slow, lazy, uninspiring and, put bluntly, utterly out of his depth the bigmouth midfielder struggled to look like he had played professionally at any level, never mind an England international who was a regular in the Premier League.
Barton was nutmegged almost as many times as he played for the Gers before throwing a strop and spending two months off sick before having his contract ripped up.
Since leaving Ibrox, Barton had a spell with Burnley before being banned by the FA for 13 months after breaching betting rules.
