Rangers guilty of ‘unforgivable’ act as ‘unacceptable’ claim issued – Agbonlahor

Rangers’ recent performances have been “unforgivable”, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Rangers’ players “forgot” their game with Celtic was a derby and the 4-0 scoreline was “unacceptable”.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side found themselves 3-0 down just before the half-time break at Parkhead and did not improve much after the interval.

Celtic

They followed up their heavy defeat to Celtic with a loss to Ajax in their opening Champions League group game by the same scoreline.

Again, they were 3-0 down at the break and were not able to turn the game around in Amsterdam.

They now have to wait to put it right with their game with Aberdeen this weekend (10 September) postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Asked for his verdict on the Old Firm, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It was a bit of Celtic being very good but Rangers players forgetting it was a derby.

“That was unforgivable for me, how they could put their fans through such a bad result.

“Derbies, especially the Glasgow derby, need to be tighter. It should be a game where one goal wins it. It should be very tight and very cagey.

“To get a result like that is unacceptable. It’s unacceptable to get beat 4-0 by your local rivals.”

Rangers

Rangers’ next scheduled game is Tuesday (13 September) when Napoli visit Ibrox in the Champions League.

The Serie A club got off to the perfect start in Europe with a 4-1 win over Liverpool earlier this week (7 September).
