Rangers have best chance ever of beating Borussia Dortmund after ‘big’ Erling Haaland news – pundit
Rangers have their best ever chance of beating Borussia Dortmund after it was confirmed Erling Haaland will miss the Europa League knockout round first-leg.
That is the view of ex-England and Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Rangers were handed a “big boost”.
As relayed by the Daily Record today (16 February), Dortmund boss Marco Rose confirmed Haaland would continue to be on the sidelines for the visit of the Gers.
The 21-year-old superstar has missed his side’s last two Bundesliga games with a muscle problem.
The German giants have lost half of the 10 games Haaland has missed through various injuries this season, including a 5-2 drubbing by Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month.
Haaland has scored 23 times in 20 games across all competitions this term and Dortmund have struggled to find a natural centre-forward in his absence.
“That’s a big boost for Rangers, 100 per cent,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“This guy doesn’t really get injured, he’s like a machine.
“For him to be out, it’s the best chance Rangers will ever have of getting a result.
“Rangers, obviously they were poor against Celtic, but have picked up afterwards so they’ll fancy their chances to keep themselves in the tie.”

Rangers last faced Borussia Dortmund in the third round of the 1999-2000 Uefa cup where Dortmund progressed on penalties after the tie finished 2-2 after two legs.
Current manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst started both legs for the Gers.
