Rangers have ‘got lawsuits coming out their ears’ – pundit suggests what Douglas Park is telling Michael Beale

Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers will struggle to sign new players in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said the Gers have got themselves into financial trouble and will need to sell if they are going to sign any new players.

As relayed by the Herald (29 November), the Light Blues launched a counterclaim against the Sydney Super Cup organisers who have attempted to sue the Ibrox club for £1.6m.

They claim the Gers breached their contract by pulling out of the tournament that they had agreed to take part in earlier this year.

Last week, as quoted by the Herald (27 December), Michael Beale said his side are in the market for a new midfielder in the winter window.

Beale is keen to strengthen his squad amid the uncertainty surrounding his midfield in the second half of the season with several players out of contract at the end of the season.

But McAvennie has claimed chairman Douglas Park won’t give Beale the funds he needs.

The pressure is really on them,” he told Football Insider.

They are talking about buying players but I do not know if they have got the money to buy players without getting people out. There is not a bottomless pit at the moment.

They have got lawsuits coming out their ears, that is going to cost them money. I do not know where they will get the money from. The chairman will tell Beale to get on with the squad that he has got.
