Rangers have ‘let fans down’ after Ryan Kent update – ‘this is criminal,’ says pundit
Noel Whelan has slammed the Rangers board for allowing Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent’s contracts to run down.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds United striker said negotiations between the Gers and the pair should have started over a year ago.
Morelos, 26, and Kent, 26 have just over six months left on their Ibrox contracts and are free to negotiate with other clubs in January.

On 1 October, sources told this site that Kent has rejected a new ‘big-money’ contract offer as he sets his sights on a move to the Premier League.
Speaking at the Rangers AGM, as relayed by Sky Sports (6 December), chairman Douglas Park has now said that the duo’s contract demands may be “unattainable”.
Whelan slammed the decision to wait so long to begin negotiations.
“Once a players’ contract gets down to the last two years, that is when I believe negotiations need to start taking place,” he told Football Insider.
“It shows the player how much they are wanted. There is security for the football club. To allow it to run down to this point, for two very important players, despite losing massive players already for big money, this is criminal.

“When you think about how old Ryan Kent is, what Morelos has done, how prolific he has been for Rangers. This, to me, is not acceptable from a football club of that size.
“To be nearly allowing to players who would bring in big money, go. It has got to be unacceptable to Rangers fans as well. The board have let the fans down.“
