Rangers have made costly error after ‘£10m’ Alfredo Morelos offer claim – pundit
Frank McAvennie has told Rangers they should have sold Alfredo Morelos for “£3million” in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker claimed the Gers were holding off on offering Morelos a new contract to see if they could sell him for more money, but the plan has backfired.
The 26-year-old will be out of contract in the summer and could leave Ibrox for nothing.
The Colombia international has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months and looks set to leave Glasgow in the summer.
On 3 April, Football Insider revealed that despite reports, the striker has no agreement with Galatasaray but the Turkish club are interested in the Ibrox front man.
Last month (28 March), sources told this site that the Light Blues have not offered the forward a new contract and are aware that they could lose him for nothing at the end of the season.
When asked why the Glasgow club haven’t tried to tie down Morelos sooner, McAvennie told Football Insider: “If I was a betting man I would say that they were holding out for decent money and nobody has come in for him.
“Even in the summer if they had wanted £8m or £10m for him and nobody came in, I would have let somebody take him for £3m in January and get some money back for him.“

Morelos has made 41 appearances for the Gers this season, despite falling down the pecking order since the arrival of Antonio Colak.
In those outings he has scored 12 goals and provided seven assists.
