Rangers have new Alfredo Morelos worry after source’s contract reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Alfredo Morelos will “down tools” if offered a new contract at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said “somebody will take” Morelos but he will leave for nothing.

On Tuesday (7 February), Football Insider revealed that the 26-year-old knocked back interest from clubs in Turkey, who were keen on signing the forward before their transfer window closed last week.

The Colombian has privately not ruled out the possibility of signing what would be a surprise new deal with the club.

Morelos‘ current Ibrox contract expires in the summer when he could leave the club for free.

But McAvennie claimed the club have not received any offers for the striker, otherwise he would have been out the door.

If there was offers coming in for Morelos there is no way Rangers would keep a hold of him,” he told Football Insider.

He has not been playing well. He has played well the last couple of games, that shows you have been lazy the rest of the year.

Rangers

Even if the team is playing badly, you can still put a shift in. You see him working hard now, he should be doing that all the time. I have not got a lot of time for players that do that. It should be a given that you put in 100 per cent effort.

If he gets a contract then he will down tools again. I think somebody will take him and if they do that means Rangers will get nothing.

In other news, according to sources, the Rangers board are thrilled as multiple new deals agreed.
