Rangers hit by another ‘massive’ blow after Alfredo Morelos update – McAvennie
Rangers’ season could be over following an injury to Alfredo Morelos.
That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid the latest on the Colombian.
On Tuesday (5 April), Rangers confirmed Morelos, 25, will not play again this season owing to a thigh injury he picked up on international duty.
The Gers are trying to catch Celtic who are now six points clear at the top of the table as well as trying to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League.
McAvennie insists Morelos‘ absence severely dents the club’s chances of winning any silverware this season.
“It’s a massive blow for them because he is their main man,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Forget the title race, Morelos is the man who comes good on those big European nights.
“They missed him against Celtic, I know they scored but they looked toothless for most of the game.
“That has to be a big worry for Rangers because their other strikers aren’t doing it.
“I can’t see them scoring many in these last few games si their chances of winning any silverware has taken a huge dent.
“It’s never nice to see a player injured, it couldn’t have come at a worse time.
“I can’t see them winning those big games without him so their season is effectively over unless they find a replacement.”

Morelos has scored 19 goals in 42 total appearances for Rangers this season.
He has also provided eight assists for his teammates.
