Kieran Maguire: Rangers in line for £9m jackpot after ‘surprise’ announcement
Rangers will earn up to £9million from matchday income alone across their three Champions League group stage home games.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the club released their ticket prices for the historic return of elite European football to Ibrox.
Rangers announced on Monday (29 August) that adult season ticket-holder packages for the triple-header will cost between £150 and £180.
The 2021-22 Europa League finalists reached the group stages by virtue of victories in two-legged play-off matches against Union Saint-Gilloise and PSV Eindhoven.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have now been drawn against Liverpool, Ajax and Napoli in Group A.
It is 12 years since Rangers’ commercial department were able to offer match-going fans the chance to see the highest calibre of opposition at Ibrox.
And Maguire forecasts that the club could rake in around £3m from each home match in the competition.
“Rangers’ Champions League packages may have surprised some fans,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“But overall, I think it’s safe to say this is going be very beneficial for the club.
“Assuming that every match sells out, which I think is a pretty safe bet, Rangers can realistically be looking for £8m to £9m once you take into account discounts for concessions and additional money from hospitality.
“That’s from ticket sales along in respect of these group games.”

Rangers trail Celtic by two points in the Scottish Premiership.
The Glasgow giants face each other for the first time in 2022-23 on Saturday (3 September).
