Rangers launch seven-figure bid for goalscoring midfielder – report
By Harvey Byrne
Rangers have launched a bid of around £1million for Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans, according to a report.
Scottish news outlet STV have claimed on their website that the Ibrox giants have made an improved second offer for the 30-year-old after previously having a £750,000 bid rejected by the Canaries earlier in the month.
It is detailed that Rangers will now await for a response from Norwich on whether the improved offer is acceptable for the English second tier side.
The Glasgow-born midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Ibrox since the season’s end due to his own support for the Light Blues.
Additionally, the Daily Record reported earlier in the week that the 11-time capped Scotland international was manager Pedro Caixinha’s top transfer target this summer and that the Portuguese boss was in regular contact with Dorrans.
The March appointment has already been busy in his first transfer window at the club, bringing in five players without the window even opening as he looks to get the team ready for a Europa League campaign next season.
He is still expected to add to his squad further and the reports would signify that Dorrans, who scored six goals in 23 league appearances for Norwich last season is viewed as a necessary addition.
Football Insider verdict:
Dorrans is certainly well worth £1million for Rangers. Despite his age the midfielder has shown in England across his career that he has a vast amount of ability and he will only improve the current Gers side, which is missing a central midfielder of his stature. Additionally, he will bring immense experience to the squad and will be able to show those who have also come in this summer what Rangers and Glasgow is all about due to his ties to the club. Therefore, this deal should be considered a must for Caixinha’s men.
In other Rangers transfer news, the Gers are joint second favourites to sign this four-time Premier League winning attacker.
