Kieran Maguire salutes ‘elite’ Rangers legal team amid seven-figure payout news
Rangers have an “elite” legal team who have helped them dodge a seven-figure payout in the case involving Ibrox flop Carlos Pena.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 32-year-old Mexican midfielder.
Pena, who now plays for Honduran side CDS Vida, turned out just 14 times in a two-season spell at Rangers.

He signed for the Glasgow giants for £2.2million in 2017 but was released because of issues surrounding his misuse of alcohol.
He lodged a complaint with Fifa over what he alleged to be a breach of contract following his Ibrox exit.
The governing body initially ruled in his favour but, as relayed by the Scottish Sun on Wednesday (28 September), that verdict has been overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
It is understood that Rangers have avoided a seven-figure payout as a result.
Maguire saluted Rangers’ legal staff after the victory at the highest court in sport.
“For an elite football club, having some form of in-house legal counsel when it comes to dealing with commercial partners, players or agents is now essential,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“If you are a club as senior as Rangers, you need to have this type of thing secured.

“Therefore, they will take close heed to the advice they are given from their legal team.
“They want to ensure they are successful in cases such as Pena’s.”
