Rangers managerial candidate could ‘be the one’ believes former insider
Rangers could have the perfect manager to take them forward even after losing out on Steven Gerrard to replace Russell Martin.
Gerrard pulled out the race to become the next Rangers boss after Martin was sacked after 123 days into his tenure.
Rangers chiefs are therefore lining up alternative options, although former Everton boss Sean Dyche is already out of the running.
Former Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is favourite for the Rangers job, with the club looking to make an appointment before their match against Dundee United.

Alex Rae backs Graham Potter appointment on one condition
Former West Ham manager Graham Potter is also in the running to become the next manager at Ibrox.
Potter’s last two jobs at West Ham and Chelsea have both ended in the sack, but former Rangers coach and midfielder Alex Rae thinks he could be a success.
“Potter, potentially if he could reignite his early managerial form when he was in Sweden and Brighton,” Rae told PLZ Soccer [13 October].
“He was on the upward trajectory there, then he’s obviously had his tougher ones at Chelsea and West Ham.

“He potentially could be. I’m not overly enthused, but we don’t know the names that are putting themselves in the hat.
“You talk about success. If you look at a manager over four or six posts, there’s going to be a couple where it goes a bit ropy.
“So if he can re-enact what he did in the early part of his tenure in Sweden and in Brighton, then out of that group, he would be the one.
“I’m saying this loosely, because I’m not sure any of these guys would even entertain Rangers because of the levels they’ve been managing at.”
Potter lasted only eight months at West Ham, after just seven months at Chelsea, and Rangers cannot afford to have another short-term manager at the helm.

Potter appointment doubtful as search continues
Potter though is said to be ‘unlikely’ to take the Rangers job, with former Middlesborough boss Michael Carrick and Kevin Muscat also on the shortlist.
Whilst Rohl is the favourite, it looks as though Rangers are no step closer to having a manager in charge against Dundee United, with no interim yet announced either.
Supporters are concerned about the options being discussed after fans favourite Gerrard did not take the job after talks with the club hierarchy in London.
Rangers need a manager who can unite the fan base, after they were dismissive about the appointment of Martin in the summer, and the club’s owners are under pressure to get this decision right.
