Rangers midfielder admits team have been dealt a blow ahead of clash v Celtic

By Harvey Byrne

Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has admitted that the Glasgow giants have been dealt a blow ahead of their clash against fierce rivals Celtic with captain Lee Wallace ruled out.

Manager Pedro Caixinha revealed in his Monday press conference that the 30-year-old left-back would miss the Saturday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox and that he was travelling down to Manchester for an assessment on his groin.

Many have seen it as a blow to the team ahead of such an important fixture with Wallace playing in all but two of Rangers’ nine matches in all competitions in the new campaign.

Now, Jack would seemingly agree with that view, as he told in his Monday press conference, as quoted by the official Rangers Twitter account that it is a blow to lose any player, highlighting the qualities that Wallace brings to the team.

Jack himself has been a mainstay of the Rangers team since completing a move from Aberdeen in the summer at the end of his contract, playing in eight of the Gers’ nine matches in all competitions this season.

Saturday’s clash will also mark his first Old Firm derby in a Rangers shirt and while the team will be without Wallace, Jack will be keen to put in a top display himself.

In other Rangers news, Fabio Cardoso has posted a hilarious tweet comparing one of his Ibrox team-mates to Cristiano Ronaldo.
