‘It has been frustrating’ – Rangers midfielder reveals manager talks after being axed from XI

Rangers midfielder Sean Goss has revealed he went to speak with manager Graeme Murty after he was axed from the starting XI – but insisted he wouldn’t go into what was said in the showdown talks.

Goss made a bright start to his Ibrox career but fell out of favour and has been limited to a handful of substitute appearances in recent week.

The 22-year-old admitted it was “tough” to sit out the two Old Firm thrashings as an unused substitute but hoped he showed what he was capable of when he came off the bench in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Kilmarnock.

“It has been frustrating not being in the team. You have to be patient and wait for a chance. I have come on and hopefully showed again what I can do,” Goss said, as quoted by the Evening Times.

“We needed a bit of freshen up in the team and a few of us had to miss out.

“It was tough watching the two Old Firm games from the bench. Whether you are in the team or not then it is hard to take.

“I went to see the manager. We are a close group and the door was always open.

“I did go to see him but I won’t go into what was said.”

Football Insider verdict

Goss was a regular in the starting XI but quickly fell out of favour for some reason but fair play to him for going and seeing the manager about it. Plenty of players would have been happy to see the rest of their loan spell out before returning to their parent club. The former Man United midfielder is a big favourite with fans and many would like to see him signed permanently in the summer although with Steven Gerrard coming in as manager in the summer it could see a massive shift in the club’s recruitment which would leave the 22-year-old midfielder with little option but to return to QPR. With two games left in the season though, Goss could still impress enough to force his way into Gerrard and director of football Mark Allen’s thoughts when they revamp the Gers squad in the summer and start looking at what is left once they clear some of the deadwood out of the squad.

In other Rangers news, both the Gers and Celtic are in the running to sign this £100,000-a-week Premier League midfielder who will be available in the summer.
