Rangers need to stop messing about and get defender deal done quickly in new report

Rangers are reportedly preparing to make a third bid for Brighton defender Connor Goldson, according to a report, and the Gers need to stop messing around now and get a deal done for the 25-year-old.

According to the Daily Record, the Gers are preparing a third bid for the defender after having two thrown out but with the two sides no too far apart the Light Blues need to hurry up and get a deal agreed.

It is no secret that the Light Blues need new defenders after the departure of both Russell Martin and David Bates so there’s no reason for the Ibrox giants to be dragging their feet over getting new faces in the door.

With Steven Gerrard set to take the reins on Friday and the players due to return for pre-season training shortly afterwards then having as many of the club’s new recruits in as early as possible can only help Gerrard get his side prepared.

Gerrard can’t be allowed to go into the new season with only Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso as senior central defenders – particularly since Alves could miss the first few games due to his participation in the World Cup so getting a deal done for Goldson should be key.
