Rangers’ new recruit reveals main focus ahead of upcoming season

Rangers’ new director of football, Mark Allen, has officially begun his role at the club and has outlined his main objectives as the Gers prepare to start their 2017/18 campaign.
The 54-year-old joined Premier League giants Manchester City in 2009 as academy director for seven years before moving to the Scottish outfit.
Allen had a successful career at the Manchester side and was a key figure in transforming the academy into one of the leading operations in English football.
The new director of football told RangersTV that he wanted to ensure scouting and recruitment is improved at Ibrox.
He said: “I think the most important thing for me is to make sure we have a very solid and robust scouting and recruitment arena and that will be my primary focus.
“I am already underway with that,” he added on the Rangers official website. “I have been doing a little bit in the background before I officially started the job in terms of establishing what I believe is a proper scouting and recruitment environment.”
However, Allen said that the support of the fans is just as important as scouting and recruitment.
“Together with our supporters this is the life blood of the club,” Allen explained. “We need to be sure we are identifying players who are Rangers players and fit the profile of a Rangers player and who want to play for Rangers.”
