Rangers news: ‘Huge’ Ibrox claim issued after Aaron Ramsey’s rival offer reveal – Hutton
Alan Hutton has insisted Rangers have proven they are still a “huge draw” despite Steven Gerrard’s departure with Aaron Ramsey’s signing.
The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 31-year-old will be under no illusions of the size of the club he has joined on loan.
Speaking to Rangers TV on Monday (31 January), Ramsey confirmed he had several options on the table before joining the Light Blues.
However, he said, “none matched the magnitude” of the Glasgow giants.
Hutton admitted Gerrard was a “massive draw” for players coming into Ibrox during his time in the dugout.
However, he insisted Rangers have proven they are still a “huge” lure with Ramsey’s capture.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Look, there’s no getting away from the fact that Steven Gerrard was a massive draw in bringing players in.
“You see what he’s doing at Aston Villa at the moment and the way the players are speaking about it. They’re having conversations with the manager, they wanted to play for him and I totally get that.
“But on the flip side to that, Rangers are a massive club. You play in front of 50,000 fans every other week. They are going to win titles, win trophies, play in European competitions.
“That in itself is a huge draw as well. There’s an opportunity to play in the Champions League at the end of the season. You’ve got another manager there in his own right who was a very exceptional player.
“He played at a high level and he can pass on his knowledge as well.
“When he saw the reaction he got, turning up at Ibrox last night, the fans screaming and shouting for him, he’ll understand exactly the size of that club that he’s walked into. This is huge.”

Ramsey has joined on loan until the end of the season from Juventus.
His contract at Juve runs until the summer of 2023.
