Rangers news: ‘Lights flashing’ at Ibrox after Alfredo Morelos development – pundit

Alfredo Morelos has changed agents to try and manufacture a move away from Rangers this summer.

That is the view of former SPL striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 25-year-old’s future at Ibrox.

As reported by the Daily Record (14 March), the Colombia international has signed with Footfeel and Echo Sports.

The agency boasts the likes of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi on their books.

Morelos’ contract at Ibrox is set to expire in the summer of next year.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Russell Edge for his assessment of the news, Whelan said: “You don’t change agents to negotiate a new contract.

“It’s one of those where the lights start flashing.

“Morelos has been there a long time now. He has consistently been their number nine and their top scorer.

“There has been issues around him but you could never question his goal record. He has guided them to the Scottish Premiership. He’s served a lot of his good years at that club.

“If he needs a fresh challenge and a pay day is up to him. I think Rangers will accept that as long as the money is right. You don’t want to keep a player who wants to move.

“It’s a case of watching this space and seeing what happens. You normally change agents because they have certain relationships with other clubs.”
