Rangers news: McLeish lauds ‘brilliant’ deal after Adam Devine update
Adam Devine is in the perfect position to develop as Rangers’ next top talent.
That’s according to former Gers boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the youngster’s future.
This site revealed on Monday (29 August) that the Ibrox giants have agreed extended terms with the right-back, 19.
The new deal is set to run for three years until 2025 and will replace his current agreement, which expires in the summer of 2023.
Devine started as Rangers beat Queen of the South 3-0 on Tuesday (30 August).
McLeish was delighted to see the youngster afforded first-team minutes.
“If you remember back to last year and because he was doing really well people were saying he needs to be in the first team,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“They tried a bit of wing-back stuff but you know it might upset the balance of the team, trying to fit people in.
“Patterson clearly couldn’t stay, Tavernier was the top man and Rangers made some brilliant business there.
“Now they have Devine coming in and it’s someone they can nurture, he can learn under the captain.”
Devine made his senior debut as a 66th-minute substitute during a 2–0 win over Dundee United in May.

Rangers sit two points adrift of rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership despite enjoying an unbeaten start to the 2022-23 campaign.
The two sides face off on Saturday (3 September) in the first Old Firm clash of the season.
