Rangers news: Mills issues emphatic Kemar Roofe verdict
Giovanni van Bronckhorst needed Rangers to beat Braga on Thursday night (14 April) otherwise his job would come under pressure.
That is the view of ex-Leeds United and England defender Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Rangers set up a “mouth-watering” Europa League semi-final with RB Leipzig.
They beat Braga 3-1 after extra-time at Ibrox to secure a 3-2 victory in aggregate.
James Tavernier scored a brace in normal time before Kemar Roofe netted the winner in the 101st minute.
He has now scored four goals in his last two games for the Gers and is beginning to fill the void left by Alfredo Morelos who will not play again this season due to injury.
“Roofe was a Championship player who was decent for Leeds,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He got a decent offer to go to Belgium and then back with Rangers. Maybe that’s his level, just below the Premier League. We all accept the Scottish league is just below the Premier League and maybe he’s found his level.
“There was a little bit of pressure on Van Bronckhorst after losing to Celtic and it looks like the Premiership has gone.
“To pull off that result and have a mouth-watering tie with Leipzig, they are in a fantastic position. If they manage to get through, in a one-off game in the final, of course, they will fancy their chances.”

If Rangers progress past RB Leipzig over two legs they will face West Ham or Eintracht Frankfurt in the final in Seville.
The last time they were in a European final was the 2008 Uefa Cup final when they lost 2-0 to Zenit Saint Petersburg at the City of Manchester Stadium.
In other news, Rangers have been tipped to accept a £16million Alfredo Morelos offer after a source’s reveal.
