Rangers news: Pundit issues ‘unbelievable’ verdict after manager’s Haaland update

Rangers’ Europa League knockout tie against Borussia Dortmund is “far from over” despite their impressive win in Germany.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Gers’ historic result.

Rangers beat Dortmund 4-2 on Thursday (17 February) to give themselves a significant advantage ahead of next week’s return fixture.

A James Tavernier penalty, Alfredo Morelos tap-in, John Lundstram rocket and Dan-Axel Zagadou own goal gave the Gers one of their most famous nights in European competition.

However, Kenny insists the tie is far from over.

“There have been some amazing results by Scottish teams in Europe and this is one of the best,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“What an unbelievable result for them. A lot of people didn’t give them a chance.

“I know they didn’t have Haaland playing but there were still some big names out there.

“Jude Bellingham just to name one. It is a massive win for Rangers.

“It’s a proper coupon buster. When you see the performance against Celtic then see they are set to play Dortmund, you fear the worst.

“We will have to see if Haaland comes back next week. He is absolutely unbelievable, a machine.

“The tie is far from over if Haaland plays.”

Man City

As quoted by the Daily Record after the game, Dortmund manager Marco Rose admitted he “can’t say yet” whether Erling Haaland will be fit for next week’s return fixture.

The striker watched from the stands as his side were beaten by Rangers.
