Rangers news: Pundit shares Todd Cantwell worry after source’s offer reveal

Frank McAvennie has claimed there will be too much pressure on Todd Cantwell if he completes a move to Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker insisted there is too much hype around players the Gers sign.

On 17 January, Football Insider revealed that the Light Blues have had a bid accepted by Norwich City for the 24-year-old.

The midfielder is set to head to Glasgow to discuss terms and undergo medical tests.

Cantwell‘s current contract at Carrow Road expires in the summer.

McAvennie claimed there has been too much noise around the potential move.

Every player that Rangers is going to to buy is the new wonderkid,” he told Football Insider.

I am not saying he is not decent but I wish people would not build him up before he even gets there. All the Rangers fans think they have got the next [Lionel] Messi and it puts a lot of pressure on the player.

It is not doing the player any good if he signs. At least let him come in and have a game of football before you start calling him things.

They have bought about four players recently that have not got in the team. Michael Beale will know a player when he sees one but is he better than what they have got? That is not the kind of position I thought they would be looking at.
