Rangers news: Pundit slams Giovanni van Bronckhorst after ‘strange’ post-Celtic comments
Frank McAvennie has been left baffled by some of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s comments after Rangers lost 3-0 to Celtic.
The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, wants to remind the Gers boss that
Rangers were blown away by Celtic and found themselves 3-0 down at half-time during Wednesday’s (2 February) Old Firm.
Rangers Review quote Van Bronckhorst as saying after the game, ” our Old Firm game started in the second half”.
McAvennie can’t believe what he heard from the Gers boss and claimed Gers fans shouldn’t be happy with their manager’s comments.
“After the game, he said something strange about how their game started at half-time,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Unfortunately for him, Celtic started playing from the first minute and absolutely blew Rangers away.
“I mean, what a thing to say. Why didn’t they start playing until half-time?
“It’s also worth pointing out that the second half result was 0-0, so they didn’t even win that.
“The game was done at half-time, so Rangers never had a chance. They looked like scoring on a couple of occasions but I don’t think they were ever going to come back.
“I can’t understand how he can come out with that statement.
“If I was a Rangers fan, I wouldn’t be happy with that.“

Rangers lost their lead at the top of the table thanks to Celtic’s win.
The Gers are next in action against Hearts on Sunday (6 February).
