Rangers news: Scots pundit drops ‘superstar’ striker signing claim after what he’s heard
Rangers don’t need to sign another striker this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie suggested academy product Robbie Ure is ready for his first team opportunity.
The Light Blues confirmed the signing of Atalanta striker Sam Lammers last week (15 June).
On 13 June, Football Insider revealed that Michael Beale is keen to bring in another goalscorer this summer, despite the arrival of Lammers.
Beale also has Antonio Colak within his first team ranks as well as B team star Robbie Ure who made three first team appearances for the Gers in the 2022-23 season.
McAvennie insisted the Light Blues don’t need another attacker with Ure waiting in the wings.
“From what I hear Robbie Ure is doing very well coming through,” he told Football Insider.
“He got a couple of games last year and people were raving about him. By all accounts he is decent so why would you want to bring in two strikers when you have got him. Bring in one and let him learn and then you might have a superstar on your hands.
“All I am hearing is this boy is pretty decent. That is coming from other people so why would you want to spend on two strikers when you have got him sitting there because you will lose him.

“It is silly to go and spend money on strikers when you have got one there that needs game time.
“The fans love him when he comes on and he will be given time because he is home grown and that is what they need.“
