Rangers news: Scots pundit fumes at Malik Tillman offer reveal

Bayern Munich’s compensation offer to Rangers is “nonsense”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie insisted there is no way Bayern are offering money to the Gers for not taking up the option to buy on Malik Tillman.

Tillman spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Ibrox in a deal that included an option to buy for around £5million.

According to The Rangers Review (20 June), the German giants have cancelled that clause and the Glasgow club will be compensated with a £1million cancellation fee.

As part of the cancellation clause, the Light Blues are believed to be entitled to 10 per cent of any fee Bayern receive from selling Tillman this summer.

The 21-year-old is attracting interest from England, Germany and Italy and the expectation is that he could be sold for a fee in excess of £10m.

But McAvennie insisted there is no chance the Gers will be entitled to any compensation.

Rangers will take that but I think it is a lot of nonsense,” he told Football Insider.

It sounds like some Rangers supporter making stuff up.

Rangers

They do not have any money to spend at the moment and I think they are banking massively on reaching the Champions League.

They have got to go through the play-offs now and if they do not there will be a massive outcry. I think they need that money they will get for being in the Champions League.
