Rangers news: The club’s worst Aaron Ramsey ‘fears’ have now come true – pundit
Alan Hutton has suggested the worst fears of Rangers have come true with Aaron Ramsey sidelined through injury.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 31-year-old “will be desperate” to make his mark at the Ibrox club.
Rangers revealed via club media that “a minor knock” caused Ramsey to miss out on the 1-1 draw against Dundee United on Sunday (20 February).
Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst updated today (23 February) that the midfielder won’t be in the squad to face Dortmund in their crucial Europa League clash tomorrow.
Ramsey is on loan at the Ibrox club until the end of the season.
Hutton suggested the Welshman’s fitness was always “a big question mark”.
“This was always the fear with someone like Ramsey,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“A prime example is like with Gareth Bale when he went back to Tottenham – he wasn’t playing a lot because he was always picking up those kinds of niggly injuries.
“It happens because you’re desperate to get out there on the pitch and when you’re out there you give 110%, it’s just natural.
“I do feel for him because his fitness was a big question mark from everybody when he joined.
“This is a tough league, and you have to be robust. He’ll be desperate to play and it’ll hurt to sit on the sidelines, but he knows his body.
“They’re perhaps just pulling him back a bit and he could be fit to return soon after a little bit of time to recover.”

Rangers sit three points behind rivals Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
Ramsey missed 17 games for Juventus through injury in the first half of the season.
