Rangers player ratings v Aberdeen: One player 4/10 in draw

COMMENT

Rangers blew the chance to overtake Aberdeen in second-place in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday night when they could only manage a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie against Derek McInnes’ side.

The Light Blues started brightly as they took the game to their hosts in search of an early opener and Jimmy Nicholl’s side looked hungry but it was Aberdeen who took the lead through Kenny McLean’s early penalty.

Referee Steven McLean pointed to the spot after an apparent foul by Alfredo Morelos and his namesake stepped up to send Jak Alnwick the wrong way.

After going a goal down, the Gers started to look a little frantic at times and were lucky not to be 2-0 down when McKean rattled the crossbar from distance.

As the first-half wore on, the referee looked in serious danger of losing control of the game as challenges thundered in from both sides and a number of players picked up bookings.

The Gers finally got themselves level just after the hour mark when Ross McCrorie headed home to send the travelling Gers fans crazy.

McCrorie’s goal sparked some new life into the Gers as the Ibrox giants started to play their game and create chances to grab a second goal and seal all three points but it wasn’t to be and the Gers now need to beat Hibs on Sunday and hope Aberdeen drop points to Celtic to secure second.

Here, Football Insider looks at how the Gers performed against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the 1-1 draw between the sides.
