Rangers player ratings v Ayr: First-team mainstay 5/10 in comfortable win

GOALKEEPER AND DEFENCE

Rangers

WES FODERINGHAM – 5

Made a dreadful error which lead to Ayr’s goal, which seemed to affect his confidence for the rest of the game. Another error by the first-team mainstay almost lead to a second Ayr goal in the first-half.
He did make a good save from a McDaid shot in the second-half but it wasn’t one of his best matches.

JAMES TAVERNIER – 7

A constant threat going up and down the wing, as Ayr failed to cope with his attacking qualities. Might have offered a bit more in defence but in the end that didn’t matter as the Gers powered forward.

DAVID BATES – 6

Didn’t have the best of starts to the game, as his backpass was miscontrolled by Wes Foderingham which lead to Ayr’s goal. Had a comfortable enough afternoon after that as Ayr struggled to threaten.

RUSSELL MARTIN – 6

Missed a great chance to give the Gers the lead with a close range header, had a comfortable match apart from that as Ayr rarely threatened in the second-half of the match.

DECLAN JOHN – 7

Just like Tavernier, he was a constant threat going forward, causing Ayr all kinds of problems down the wing, added another assist to his collection and can be pleased with his performance.
