Decent enough afternoon for the defender but really should have got his name on the scoresheet.
Missed a gilt-edged chance when he was first to react to Greg Docherty’s shot but somehow headed wide from a few yards out.
Dealt with Accies forward well enough without ever really excelling.
Like Martin, Bates could face a fight for his place with Alves and McCrorie nearing a return.
