Rangers predicted to rocket past Celtic after ‘massive’ boost – pundit
Rangers have the funds to make their squad better than Celtic’s before the transfer window closes.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gers’ transfer business.
On Monday (25 July), Rangers confirmed the signing of Ridvan Yilmaz, 21, from Besiktas.

The Gers have also signed Ben Davies, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and Antonio Colak this summer.
Calvin Bassey’s departure to Ajax boosted the club’s transfer funds with Sky Sports (20 July) reporting the clubs agreed on a £22.7million deal.
Kenny claims the money is available to bring Rangers’ squad to the same level as Celtic’s.
“It’s massive money,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“They missed out on the Champions League money Celtic got for getting into the groups so Rangers have to make up that difference somehow.
“They need to use it wisely now and if they do that then they can close that gap to Celtic or even go past them.
“That’s a commanding position to be in, having that much money available. They need to not be silly with it and they can really strengthen.
“They can really improve that squad now and I would expect a few more deals to be done before the end of the window.
“I want a proper title fight this season and I think these funds will give Rangers the chance of getting back up there.”

Bassey made 50 appearances for Rangers across all competitions last season, including 14 appearances in their Europa League campaign.
In those outings, he provided six assists.
