Rangers ‘preparing for exits’ in January after ‘concerning’ quotes emerge – Kenny

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is preparing for some of his Rangers players to leave Ibrox in January.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gers’ possible moves in January.

As quoted by the National on Monday (27 December), Van Bronckhorst admitted Rangers need to be “ready for anything” during the transfer window.

He refused to commit to the club doing any business but revealed he does not want to end the window with a smaller squad than he has now.

Joe Aribo and more recently Nathan Patterson, have been linked with moves away from Glasgow.

Kenny claims van Bronckhorst is preparing for some of his players to leave this month after those “concerning” quotes.

“It’s concerning. To me, it sounds like he’s preparing for exits,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Why make that comment about squad size if you are confident of keeping your players?

“It sounds like he’s expecting people to go. The good thing is that they will be replaced.

“So there you go. I just think there are a lot of rumours about certain players who may leave.

“So maybe he is quelling fears. I don’t think anything is lined up, that’s not what it sounds like.

“But, to me, Van Bronckhorst doesn’t sound confident of keeping that squad together.

“There are players where they will be thinking ‘they are gone’ and that’s not ideal.”

Rangers

Rangers currently sit six points clear at the top of the Premiership table.

They return to action against Aberdeen on 18 January.
