Kieran Maguire: Rangers ‘protecting’ themselves amid £75m ‘legal issue’
The major Rangers shareholders are not ready to cede control and will be ruthless in “protecting” their investment while they remain in charge of the club.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest developments behind the scenes at Ibrox.
As relayed by the Daily Record on Monday (5 September), Rangers have rejected a bid from American investor Kyle Fox to buy 25 per cent of the club and become its largest individual shareholder.

It is understood that Fox pledged to invest £75million into the club over five years had the bid been successful.
Rangers are now suing Fox for the unauthorised use of their badge on a document.
Maguire suggested why the Glasgow giants would be so belligerent to what on face value seems an attractive offer.
“I think if you take a look at the makeup of the senior Rangers investors, they have put a lot of money into the club in challenging years,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Rangers have been through a recovery phase and wouldn’t necessarily want to see their shareholding diluted.

“With regards to the potential legal issues with the logo, the club is simply protecting its intellectual property rights. It would be doing that regardless.
“Rangers are a very attractive brand and the club will feel it has the right to protect that brand if people who are not connected to the club are using it for personal purposes.“
In other news, Alfredo Morelos “could have got in trouble” after what Frank McAvennie saw at Rangers.
