27-year-old flop big reason why Caixinha was axed: Rangers summer signings rated
Carlos Pena
Carlos Pena can somehow look like a very good footballer and utterly woeful simultaneously.
The £2.2million signing from Chivas has struggled to adapt to Scottish football since swapping Mexico City and Guadalajara for Maryhill and Govan.
At times, Pena shows flashes of brilliance which leave you thinking that he might just be the most naturally-talented footballer in Scotland before falling over the ball while attempting a simple five-yard pass.
Despite all this, the midfielder has only scored one goal less than prolific Celtic strikers Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths in the league so far this season.
Pena has vanished from the side in the wake of Caixinha’s sacking and whoever comes in to replace the Portuguese has a major job on their hands getting some value for money from the Mexican.
The 27-year-old flop’s signing probably was a large part of why Caixinha was axed.
