Kieran Maguire: Stewart Robertson ‘seeing pound signs’ as Rangers plan revealed
Rangers know that there is “huge scope for growth” in the commercial department.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about recent comments made by Stewart Robertson.
The Ibrox managing director told Sky Sports on Tuesday (15 February) that Rangers’ commercial growth has been key to their financial stability.

The Scottish champions are looking to scale the business after successfully recovering from administration 10 years ago, Robertson explained.
Rangers earned £10.7million in commercial income in 2020-21, the last financial year on record.
And the Glasgow giants have the opportunity to squeeze even more from merchandise and sponsorship revenue streams, predicts Maguire.
“This is an area where Rangers see pound signs,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“They are aware that they are at a slight disadvantage to Celtic with regards to matchday income because of the capacity difference.
“They do, however, feel that they could get more fans in if the stadium was bigger.
“Commercial income is still below the levels of about 2014, so there is huge scope for growth there.
“The connection with Mike Ashley meant fans were reluctant to buy merchandise as they felt it was going into his pocket.
“That is an area which they can now accelerate. If you take a look at their commercial income, £10.7m is just under a quarter of the total.”

Rangers currently trail Celtic by one point in the Scottish Premiership.
They are in action in the Europa League playoffs against Borussia Dortmund tonight.
