Kieran Maguire issues ‘enormous’ claim as Rangers set to make £70m announcement
Champions League qualification would see Rangers push their revenue well beyond the circa £70million they are set to announce for 2021-22.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Ibrox club’s financial prospects.
This site revealed last Saturday (26 March) that Rangers are well on course to announce revenues of up to £70million for the current campaign.

That would represent a dramatic upswing from the £47.7m generated in the Covid-hit 2020-21 season when they reached the Europa League last-16.
Rangers are into the quarter-finals of this year’s competition where they will face French giants Lyon.
But Maguire explained that Champions League football would be an “enormous” boost as they look to push the envelope even further.
“Champions League is a huge driver,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Celtic in 2018, for example, earned £100m as they were in the Champions League. For every £1 in the Europa, you get £5 in the Champions League.
“Winning the Europa League would bring in £30m or £40m but you could bring in that or more just from the group stages of the Champions League.
“There are enormous benefits in prize money and you will also get benefits kicking in from sponsors.
“You can also sell hospitality tickets at a bigger price if you’re playing bigger teams in the Champions League.
“If they got, say, Man United in the Champions League, the commercial department would think all their Christmases had come at once.
“So £70m is a lot for Rangers but Champions League football would allow them to shop in a completely different pool in terms of recruitment.”

Rangers will qualify automatically for the Champions League group stages if they win the Scottish Premiership this year.
They face Celtic in a dramatic title showdown at Ibrox today (3 March).
