Rangers set for ‘massive’ Morelos boost after significant development – Hutton
Alan Hutton has suggested Rangers have been handed a “massive boost” after Alfredo Morelos netted his 100th goal for the club.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed reaching the milestone would be a weight off the 25-year-old’s shoulders.
Morelos reached his century of goals in Sunday’s 2-1 win over St Mirren.
His 99th goal came at the start of October in the win over Hibernian.
Morelos had been criticised by Steven Gerrard for his lack of output this season.
He has now netted six goals in 17 appearances for the Light Blues.
Hutton suggested that getting over the 100-goal hurdle would be a major confidence boost for Morelos and Rangers.
The Rangers TV pundit told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think it’s massive for him.
“It’s probably been weighing on his mind for the last few weeks as well.
“I’ve played alongside players that have been very close to it and it’s taken them a little while to get over that landmark.
“To finally do it, you’d like to think he can free himself up to play his natural game. He doesn’t have to think about stats and figures and things like that.
“I’m sure it’s going to be a massive boost of confidence for him. Hopefully, this will be a kind of turning point for him and he can go and get a few more.”

Morelos’ 100 goals have come in 199 appearances for the Glasgow giants.
His most prolific season, the 2018/19 campaign, saw him net 30 goals in 48 games.
In other news, pundit claims Rangers handed another “huge” boost “crucial to the title race”.
