Rangers set to finalise multiple new signings after Ryan Jack news – expert
Alan Hutton has suggested Ryan Jack will have to “battle” for game time at Rangers next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said that the club will be bringing in ” a lot of competition” in the midfield this summer.
The Light Blues confirmed (19 May) that the 31-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension.
Earlier this month (8 May), sources told this site that Norwich City midfielder Kieran Dowell is closing in on a move to Ibrox and has verbally agreed a three-year deal with the Glasgow club.
Gers boss Michael Beale has previously spoken of the need for reinforcements and the club have confirmed the imminent departure of several important players including Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.
Hutton is delighted the club have signed Jack on for another year.
“I think it is a no-brainer, it is a really good decision,” he told Football Insider.
“It is strange because Michael Beale came out a few months back and said everyone would be staying out with Morelos and [Allan] McGregor. To get to this situation and only one has signed a new deal is a little bit strange.
“I think Jack is an important player for Rangers, he makes them stronger in that midfield.

“There is going to be a lot of competition coming in this summer so he will have a battle on his hands but when he is playing at the top of his game he definitely fits in to that Rangers midfield.
“He has still got a lot to give so to have him sign on for another year I think is a good deal.“
In other news, Rangers set to announce first deal tonight as four signings close.
