Rangers must launch summer swoop for reportedly available £10million forward
COMMENT
Sheffield Wednesday are ready to bin striker Jordan Rhodes, according to a report, after the striker failed to cut it at Hillsborough – and Rangers should give the £10million striker a chance to save his career with a move to Ibrox in the summer.
Rhodes has struggled for the Owls after they shelled out £10million last year to bring the Scotland international in from Middlesbrough but, according to The Sun, they are ready to let the striker move on.
The Gers are likely to undergo another summer of squad building after a disappointing season so far and a loan move for Rhodes could suit all parties.
The Scotland striker carries a bit of a reputation as damaged goods but the chance to come up to Scotland and revive his career at Ibrox could prove enticing to both the player and Sheffield Wednesday.
At 28, Rhodes is at the point of his career where his next move is crucial and a move to Ibrox could work wonders for his career in the same way it has for Jamie Murphy who has gone from playing for Brighton’s Under-23s to winning his first cap for Scotland in a matter of months.
Rhodes is on a hefty wage at Sheffield Wednesday after joining them in a club record deal but if they want any chance at recouping as much as they can from Rhodes then a temporary switch to Ibrox might be just the move.
In other Rangers news, an outspoken BBC pundit has slammed this Gers player after the draw with Motherwell, claiming he was “unbelievably bad”.
