‘It does my head in’ – Josh Windass reveals what drives him mad at Rangers
Rangers star Josh Windass has admitted he is fed up taking stick over his hilarious blunder where he told RangersTV that he likes omelette but doesn’t like eggs – and revealed that it is “all everyone talks about.”
The 17-goal Gers star made the embarrassing gaffe in an interview with RangersTV and was recently mocked by team-mate Jason Cummings on Twitter over it.
Windass was further pressed on it on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM and admitted it winds him up that it is constantly brought up.
“It’s not an egg is it!” Windass said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“It’s all everyone talks about now.
“It does my head in to be honest.”
It’s not the first time Windass has been left with egg on his face after seeming confused to learn that cockerels and hens were male and female chickens.
The 24-year-old has hit the net 17 times for the Gers so far this season, with 16 of those coming after Graeme Murty took over as manager in October.
Windass joined the Gers from Accrington Stanley in 2016 alongside Matt Crooks altough struggled to make an impact in his debut season with the Ibrox giants.
After an impressive campaign this season, Windass is likely to be in the running for player of the year honours at the end of the season.
Football Insider verdict:
This isn’t likely to go away anytime soon and Windass is going to have to grin and bear it. Although he’s hade a few foot-in-mouth moments this season, as long as he produces the goods on the pitch then Rangers fans won’t care if he knows that an omelette is made of eggs or not. Some of the Twitter back-and-forth with Windass and Jason Cummings coming off the back of it has been pretty entertaining too so there’s always a silver lining – that and his egg-based blunder doesn’t come close to Kirk Broadfoot’s.
