Josh Windass delivers Twitter verdict on Rangers win against Falkirk

Rangers attacker Josh Windass has sent a message to Gers fans after the side’s 4-1 win over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup – saying it is time to “rest up and concentrate” on next weekend’s Old Firm clash.

The in-form Gers welcome bitter rivals Celtic to Ibrox next weekend in a match which could have huge ramifications for the title race and see the Light Blues close to within three points of Brendan Rodgers’ side in the table.

Despite being in fantastic goalscoring form himself, Windass was unable to get on the scoresheet against the Championship strugglers in the cup rout but did get an assists after playing in hat-trick hero Jason Cummings to open the scoring.

Windass was delighted to see his side hit the net four times as he turns his attention to next week’s Old Firm.

“Another four goals for us into the semi final. Rest up and concentrate on next week,” Windass said on his personal Twitter account.

The 24-year-old has scored 10 times in his last eight games to help the Light Blues to a run of six consecutive wins and nine wins in ten games since the winter break.

The attacker has scored 16 times in 34 games in all competitions this season with all but one of his goals coming after Pedro Caixinha was sacked in October.

Football Insider verdict:

Windass will need to play better in the Old Firm clash than he did against Falkirk if the Gers are to take anything from their bitter rivals. Murty’s side are the form team in Scottish Premiership and will be confident they can match any team in the country on their day and will be desperate to prove that against Brendan Rodgers’ side at Ibrox next week. If Windass can play to his best then the Gers could be looking at just a three-point gap to the league leaders this time next week and end a long run without a league win against the defending champions.
