‘It’s not acceptable’ – Holt delivers verdict on Rangers defeat v Kilmarnock
Rangers midfielder Jason Holt has claimed the Gers can improve on a “few things” after losing 2-1 to Kilmarnock last weekend despite going a goal ahead.
Declan John’s goal had given the Gers a first-half lead before Kris Boyd’s quickfire second-half double turned the game around.
The defeat was the second in succession for the Gers and Holt believes they can do much better and need to improve on a number of areas.
“I think we need to take care of the ball better and keep it for more sustained periods of time,” Holt said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“We also have to create more chances as well.
“There are certainly a few things we can do better. Obviously it [the Kilmarnock defeat] was massively disappointing.
“We’re really disappointed at the manner in which we let the 1-0 lead slip and it’s not acceptable.”
The Light Blues currently sit third in the Scottish Premiership but have lost a huge amount of ground on leaders Celtic after back-to-back defeats as well as recent losses to Hamilton and Dundee.
Graeme Murty’s side face Motherwell on Wednesday night at Ibrox before heading across Glasgow to face their bitter rivals Celtic in the second Old Firm clash of the season on Saturday.
With the Scottish Premiership then enjoying a three-week winter break, Murty will have the chance to work with his squad in detail when they fly out to Florida to take part in the Florida Cup with the likes Corinthians, A. Mineirio and PSV Eindhoven.
Since joining the Gers in 2015, Holt has made 100 appearances for the Light Blues.
In other Rangers news, three Gers players could play their final games for the club against Celtic this week.
