Josh Windass delivers verdict on Rangers chances in Scottish Cup

Rangers star Josh Windass has revealed manager Graeme Murty wants the Gers to lift the Scottish Cup to meet what is “expected” of the Ibrox giants.
The Gers eased their way into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Fraserburgh on Wednesday night with Windass bagging all three goals.
Murty’s side haven’t lifted a major trophy since 2011 and haven’t won the Scottish Cup since a 1-0 win over Falkirk in 2009.
Windass admitted winning the cup would be “one of the best moments” of his career as he looks to make it to the final.
“The manager has told us he wants us to win a trophy as that is what is expected at this club. We want to win medals and win things for the fans,” WIndass said, as quoted by the club’s official website.
“I’m looking forward to the next round. It would be one of the best moments of my career to win a trophy, so hopefully we can get to the final.
“”I’ve been to a few semi-finals and come up short, so hopefully this will be the year.”
The Gers have won the competition 33 times and are second only to Celtic in the list of overall final appearances.
Murty’s side have a trip to Ayr United’s Somerset Park in the fifth round as they look to book a spot in the last-eight and take a step closer to a date at Hampden on May 19th.
Before they head to face the League One side, the Gers face Hibs at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership match on Saturday.
The visit of Neil Lennon’s side is a must-win clash for the Gers after Aberdeen won in midweek to go three points ahead of the Ibrox giants.
