Rangers star thinks Gerrard’s about to quit Rangers after Ibrox talks reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed uncertainty over Steven Gerrard’s future at Rangers may be behind a lack of movement in contract talks with Connor Goldson.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 28-year-old wants guarantees over his manager before putting pen to paper.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Goldson admitted he “hasn’t heard anything” over a new contract after not speaking to his agent or the club recently.

The defender is out of contract next summer, meaning Rangers risk losing him on a free.
Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard admitted he is neither “confident” nor “concerned” about Goldson’s situation.
He insisted he wants the centre-back to stay but stated he can only push the club and player to strike a deal.
Gerrard’s own future has been subject to speculation recently.
As revealed by Football Insider, Newcastle were set to make contact with the Gers boss over the now-vacant manager’s post.
Whelan suggested Goldson, who signed for Gerrard back in 2018, might have doubts over his manager’s future.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You need leaders in your side. You need people that know the club and he does. He’s come through it all with Steven Gerrard and I’m sure Steven Gerrard respects him.
“Maybe he’s got one eye what happens to Steven Gerrard as well. Maybe, maybe that is something that he’s thinking about, the fact he likes working under Steven Gerrard.
“We know that Steven Gerrard’s future is a little bit unsure right now where he will be next season. So maybe there’s one eye on that.

“There’s no doubt that you’ll miss a talisman, a leader and a captain figure in that side. They’re hard to come by.
“He’s British, he knows the league, he knows the culture. It makes even more important that you know they try and keep him.
