Rangers stars can’t cope and will be blown away by Celtic – McAvennie

Rangers have lost their sharpness in the Scottish Premiership and it will cost them against Celtic.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Sunday’s (17 April) clash.

Rangers and Celtic face off at Hampden Park looking to secure a place in the Scottish Cup final.

Rangers

Rangers progressed to the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday (14 April) but remain second in the table.

Since December, the Gers have blown a seven-point lead at the top of the table.

McAvennie insists the sharpness that has cost Rangers in 2022 will strike again on Sunday.

“They have got to the semi-final, that will give them a boost,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“This is just my opinion but I think they have lost some of the sharpness and that will cost them.

“All the players look great, they are magnificent athletes but they just look off it in the Premiership.

“That sharpness isn’t there. Maybe they are struggling with the workload.

“I could be totally wrong, it could be something like Morelos not being there.

“That’s just me. I think Celtic will be sharp because they have had the week off.

“It’s hard to put your finger on but Rangers just aren’t the same in the league.”

Rangers

Celtic have won the last two Old Firm clashes after Rangers won the first of this season.

The Gers are looking to reach a cup final for the first time this season after being knocked out of the Scottish League Cup at the semi-final stage.

In other news, Rangers have been tipped to accept a £16million Alfredo Morelos offer after a source’s reveal.
