‘Rangers takeover could be sealed in six weeks’ – Major new Ibrox update
Rangers could have new ownership by April amid talks with a consortium backed by 49ers Enterprises’ and Paraag Marathe, according to BBC Sport.
The Ibrox hierarchy has been desperate for investment for several seasons, which is only becoming more and more apparent as Rangers boss Philippe Clement continues to struggle on the pitch.
A takeover has been mooted by journalists, former players and pundits alike when discussing the current financial situation at Ibrox, and any of those wishes might finally be granted.
Leeds United’s Paraag Marathe is leading the American Franchise in their takeover venture in Glasgow and is looking to extend the 49ers’ current business model in football.
Supporters, however, have already been warned about the potential for Rangers to become a “feeder club” for Leeds, which would be incredibly unwelcomed at Ibrox.

San Francisco 49ers could complete Rangers takeover by April
Sources close to the negotiations have told the BBC [20 February] that the proposed takeover is expected to be completed between April and June 2025, which could be as little as six weeks away at best.
It is understood that private talks over the sale of Rangers have been ongoing since the second half of 2023, with the prospect of that happening finally about to become a reality.
Passing over the keys could mean Rangers exits for Dave King and John Bennett, both of whom are shareholders of the Scottish giants, but it could be a completely new era at Ibrox.

Supporters have been crying out for investments at Ibrox, and with the San Francisco 49ers clearly keen to expand their portfolio, those long-awaited wishes could be answered very soon.
The Light Blues are only falling further and further behind their Old Firm rivals Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers able to splash the cash and regularly claim the Scottish Premiership title.
A lack of funds also means players like Everton-linked Hamza Igamane could leave, while fans are left wondering where the money will come from to make Vaclav Cerny’s move permanent.
All of these problems could go away should the takeover be completed before the summer transfer window opens, and clubs from all over Europe come hounding for their most promising talents.
