Kieran Maguire: Rangers in ‘very strong negotiating’ position as new kit deal on the cards

Rangers are in a “very strong negotiating position” if they choose to sit down with Castore over a potential kit deal renewal.

So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about commercial director James Bisgrove’s recent remarks.

Per The National yesterday (27 January), Bisgrove revealed that “when the time is right” Rangers will “discuss the prospect of a new deal” with Castore.

Rangers embarked on a technical partnership with the Liverpool-based manufacturer at the outset of the 2020-21 season.

The Ibrox club won the Scottish Premiership for the first time in almost a decade that term and made excellent progress in the Europa League.

Maguire insists that their on-pitch success leaves them with a high card when they do enter negotiations with Castore.

“They are in a very strong negotiating position,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“They got ’55 last season and they are leading the Premiership at present. They have the potential to play in Europe and to increase exposure.

“For Rangers and Castore, that can only be beneficial.

“So it would make sense to sit down and agree the flat fee and the commission they’ll be able to generate from each sale.

“I suspect Castore have been very pleasantly surprised with the volume of sales.

“And the Rangers fans will be delighted because anyone who isn’t Mike Ashley helps the club.”

Rangers

Rangers are currently four points clear atop the Scottish Premiership.

They travel to face Ross County tomorrow (29 January).
